Friday, Nov. 7

5 to 7 p.m. – Opening reception, “Members Show 2025,” recent work by AIC’s 14 members. Artists in Cahoots, Lexington.

5:30 p.m. — Keynote address, Byron Pitt, co-anchor of ABC’s newsmagazine “Nightline,” to speak, Stackhouse Theater, Elrod Commons, W&L.

Saturday, Nov. 8

8 a.m. to noon – Bazaar for Mission, with crafts, gift baskets, baked goods, white elephant sale, jellies and quilt raffle, Buena Vista Presbyterian Church.

8:30 a.m. – Birding at Boxerwood with members of the Rockbridge Bird Club, bring binoculars and meet in the nature center parking lot; for more information or weather cancellation, visit Rockbridge Bird Club on Facebook or www.rockbridgebirdclub. org.

10 a.m. — “The Geology of Brushy Hills,” a two-hour hike at Brushy Hills Preserve led by professor Chris Connors; meet at parking lot by the spring house (1010 Union Run), carpool if possible; event will happen rain or shine.

10 a.m. to noon – Annual Rafiki sale, Grace Presbyterian Church.

4 to 6 p.m. – Family game night, board games, cards and more, drinks and snacks provided, children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, Floyd-Davidson Post 126 American Legion Hall, Buena Vista.

4 p.m. – Pork tenderloin dinner, Beth Horon United Methodist Church.

5 p.m. – Thanksgiving meal, Raphine firehouse, country ham, turkey and seven sides, $18 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under; donations of desserts welcome.

5 to 7 p.m. – Spaghetti supper, with salad, bread, dessert and drink, by donation, Collierstown United Methodist Church.

6 p.m. – Cakewalk, Rockbridge Baths Volunteer Fire Department, to support fire department, with door prizes, 50/50 raffle.

Sunday, Nov. 9

Noon to 4 p.m. - Appalachian Trail “Natural History Hike,” Hog Camp Gap to the balds of Cole Mountain, comments by conservationists and thru-hikers, 6-mile loop back via Old Hotel Trail; see RHS tinyurl. com/App-Trail-100-Programs- RHS.

Monday, Nov. 10

5:30 p.m. – Screening of the documentary “The Encampments” about U.S. citizens protesting the war on Gaza, sponsored by 50 Ways Rockbridge, Rockbridge Regional Library, Lexington.

Tuesday, Nov. 11

10:30 a.m. – Veterans Day Parade, all veterans invited to participate, parade starts at Oak Grove Cemetery and ends at the Veterans Memorial in courthouse square.

5 to 7 p.m. – Veterans breakfast for dinner, free of charge to all veterans, by donation for others, includes eggs, pancakes, sausage, pork loin, coffee and orange juice, Natural Bridge Fire Department.

Wednesday, Nov. 12

6 to 7 p.m. ‒ Rockbridge CAN community meal catered by CHEFS Catering, served sit-down style, Rockbridge Baths firehouse.

Thursday, Nov. 13 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Kitty-Care 2025 holiday fundraiser seasonal/Christmas, cat/ dog, jewelry, yarn, Tigger table, baked goods, linens, raffle and more, Ben Salem Community Building on Forge Road.

12:30 to 1:30 p.m. – Talk by professor Jane Harrington about her new book “Women of the Fairy Tale Resistance: The Forgotten Founding Mothers of the FairyTale and the Stories That They Spun,” Leyburn Library, W&L.

5:30 p.m. – Workshop, making holiday votive candle using dried plant materials and recycled jars, Rockbridge Regional Library.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Native tree giveaway for Buena Vista residents, offered by Boxerwood Education Association and the city of Buena Vista, residents can get up to three trees, along with leaf mulch for these trees and wire cages for deer protection, Magnolia Square pavilion.

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. - Program, “Heirloom Apples” with Regina Donald from Wilbourn House Orchard, Piovano Room, Lexington branch of the Rockbridge Regional Library, sponsored by Master Gardeners.
