Buena Vista native and baking connoisseur Susan Gravatt has established herself as a presence online with her blog and business, Susan Brings Dessert. On the blog, she develops recipes, gives tutorials and creates baking content for readers.
Next week, Gravatt is making the jump to the small screen as a contestant on the Hallmark Channel’s new baking competition show, “Baked With Love: Holiday.”
The premier episode airs this Monday, Oct. 27, at 9 p.m. In the program, which has eight episodes, 10 teams of two bakers compete in holiday-themed challenges inspired by family recipes and traditions. Host for the show is Hallmark Channel actress Tamera Mowry-Housley.
Gravatt and her husband, Saman Zomorodi, comprise one of the teams of bakers. “We are very excited for the show to finally debut,” said Gravatt. After being selected as contestants, the couple received an all-expenses-paid trip to England, where the episodes were filmed several months ago.
Although the competition has concluded, she can’t say how they did prior to the episodes airing. Viewers will have to tune into the show to see if, or how far, the couple advanced in the competition. The grand prize winner is to receive $50,000 and a chance to have one of their bakes featured in a “Countdown to Christmas” movie on the Hallmark Channel.
Prior to starting her blog and business, Gravatt worked for several years in marketing, communications and event planning. The 2014 graduate of the University of Virginia was valedictorian of the Parry McCluer High School class of 2010. Her parents, Ron and Martha Gravatt, are retired Buena Vista school teachers.
