High Bridge

High Bridge Presbyterian celebrated worldwide communion and welcomed four new members into the church this past Sunday. The new members are Sandy Emore, Pam Lotts, and Bruce and Nellie Freit. We had one visitor, a member of the Virginia Military Institute rugby team. After the service, the congregation chose a nominating committee for elders and deacons for the class of 2028. The members of the committee are Mary Carson Worley, Linda Wood, Lea Braford, Faye Worley and Aaron Black.

Next Sunday, a member of the church will deliver the message for the Rev. Willis while he enjoys a day of vacation. Also, we will have “noisy can” and children’s worship.

The afternoon circle meets Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. with Connie Powell. She will also lead the lesson.

Timber Ridge (Old Stone Presbyterian Church) Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Benefits will help area food pantries.

The Natural Bridge/ Glasgow Ruritan club raffle and community cakewalk will be held at the Natural Bridge firehouse on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The Presbyterian Women’s third quarter mission is the Natural Bridge Elementary School clothes closet. Clothing needed includes underwear, shorts, pants (no jeans) and tennis shoes sized 11-4. Items can be left with Betsy Shepard or dropped off in the narthex.

The Shafer family reunion was held recently at the home of Jane Shafer. Guests came from as far as Midlothian, Chester, Amelia, Covington, Salem, Roanoke, and Martinsburg, W.Va.

The Natural Bridge food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, and close at 11 a.m. We ask that our supporting churches and friends for donations of dried beans and rice.
