7 p.m. – Programongrowing native grasses, presented by Rockbridge Area Master Gardeners, RARA Community Room of the Piovano Building; native grass seed and plants will be available.

7 p.m. – Talk, Amiyah McCoy to speak about her experiences as the first DeLaney Youth Opportunity grant scholar, hosted by Rockbridge NAACP, Q&A session follows with reception, .Randolph Street United Methodist Church.

5:30 p.m. - Rockbridge National Night Out, Hull’s Drive-In, free movie starts at 7.

Saturday, Oct. 11

11 a.m. – Barbecue chicken sale, $7 for a half, or $11 for a dinner with a chicken half, two sides, and a roll, serving will be from the front of the bay, raffle tickets will be available for $10 each, with the drawing held on Oct. 18, Buena Vista Fire Department . Noon to 4 p.m. – Fall Festival , Goshen First Aid Crew grounds, 9770 Maury River Rd, vendors, cornhole tournament, , food and more.

4:30 to 7 p.m. - Buena Vista Fire Department’s annual Harvest Dinner, drive-thru and eat in, cost $14 for one meat and $16 for two meats.

Sunday, Oct. 19 1 to 4 p.m. - Rockbridge Conservation’s annual meeting at Kendal Hall banquet room in the Anderson Center, located at 160 Kendal Drive, free and open to the public; guided tour of the Sunnyside Preserve from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by organizational updates and conservation awards.

Tuesday, Oct. 21

6:30 p.m. – Rockbridge Camera Club meeting, visitors are welcome, Piovano Room, Rockbridge Regional Library.

Wednesday, Oct. 22

4 p.m. – Panel discussion on the exhibition “Locating the Law: Places of German Constitutional History,” Staniar Gallery, Wilson Hall, W&L.

Saturday, Oct. 25

8 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- Chessie Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 26.2 Relay, sponsored by Friends Of The Chessie Trail with all proceeds to be used for trail improvements; walkers welcome in 5K, 10K, and half races; for more information and to register go to www.runthechessie.org.

10 a.m. to 7 p.m. - Let’s Rock with Rockbridge Recovery community event ; starting at 11:45 a.m., there will be rotating bands and guest speakers; for kids, there will be a bouncy obstacle course, a Nerf war, sack races and more; food will be available and an all-day raffle will be held; stay after the event for a free community movie presented by Hull’s Drive-In, at the drive-in.

10:30 a.m. – Veterans Day Parade, all veterans invited to participate, parade starts at Oak Grove Cemetery and ends at the Veterans Memorial in courthouse square.
