The Buena Vista and Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Offices, in partnership with Fincastle Baptist Church – Rockbridge Campus, the Buena Vista Police Department, the Lexington Police Department, and the Virginia Military Institute Police Department, will host this year’s National Night Out celebration on Friday, Oct. 10, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Hull’s Drive-in.
National Night Out is a nationwide campaign designed to bring neighbors together, strengthen community partnerships, promote public safety, and foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the citizens they serve.
This free, family-friendly event will include:
• Live demonstrations from local first responders
• First responder vehicles and equipment displays
• Children’s activities, games, and prizes
• Local nonprofit and community resource booths
• Complimentary food and refreshments
• A special free movie at sundown under the stars “We’re excited to bring National Night Out back to Hull’s Drive-in this year,” said Sheriff Randy Hamilton. “This is a chance for neighbors to come together, meet the men and women who serve them, and celebrate the strong sense of community that makes Rockbridge County, Buena Vista, and Lexington so special.”
Sheriff Tony McFaddin added, “National Night Out is about partnership and trust. When our citizens and law enforcement stand side by side, it makes our communities safer and stronger. I look forward to seeing families and neighbors enjoy this evening together.”
Since 1984, millions of Americans have celebrated National Night Out as a way to build trust and cooperation between communities and law enforcement.
This year the Rockbridge National Night Out celebration falls on Faith & Blue Weekend. The Sheriffs have partnered with Fincastle Baptist Church – Rockbridge Campus to help bring this nationwide initiative to the community. First convened in 2020 through a historic collaboration between the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), all of America’s leading national law enforcement organizations, and MovementForward Inc., National Faith & Blue Weekend has quickly become one of the largest and most consolidated police-community outreach efforts in American history.
