Authors Polly Stewart and Henry Wise will lead an indepth discussion about the craft of writing and the insand- outs of publishing at the Rockbridge Regional Library Thursday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m.
Stewart, pen name for Mary Atwell, is the author of three novels ‒ “The Good Ones,” “Wild Girls” and her most recent release, “The Felon’s Ball,” which was published in July of this year. Stewart’s essays have been featured in prominent publications such as The New York Times and Good Housekeeping. She writes the monthly Backlist column for CrimeReads and teaches British literature and creative writing at the Virginia Military Institute. Stewart’s work focuses on writing that explores complex characters and social themes. Henry Wise is the author of “Holy City,” which earned the 2025 Edgar Award for First Novel. His storytelling and narratives have captivated readers, and his insights into writing and publishing will complement Stewart’s perspective in this discussion.
Following the discussion, there will be a book signing. Books will be available for purchase from The Bookery.
