Vesuvius

Carolyn Terrell, (540) 430-4915/[email protected] Happy birthday wishes are extended to Lori Harvey, Tommy Groah, Curtis Cash, Kevin Phillips and Kanon Richardson, my great-grandson.

Happy anniversary to Bradley and Carrie Hite.

Better health prayers for my friend in Texas, Johnny Kislek. The VA has put him through a battery of tests these last two weeks. Pastor Tyler Clem has been fighting pneumonia. Danny Walker has helped out by bringing the message for the last three weeks. Also include both Buddy and Angie Waymack and Buzzy Cooper.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Zack Reese. Zack volunteered at one time at the Raphine Volunteer Fire Company.

Boy, the joys of no broadband. Last Thursday my phone decided to act up. So I had to either ride out to Raphine where most of the restaurants/fast food chains have Wi-Fi to be able to call or send text messages. Also the Verizon towers are along interstate.

But I was also able to check my texts at two locations that have Starlink. That is an option that I will look into. I just pray that Rockbridge County will soon get another grant so that Vesuvius and other parts of the county can have reliable cell phone service.

The Vesuvius Community Day is Sept. 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Emory United Methodist Church will be having breakfast and lunch and a yard sale. The Montebello Fire Department will be selling their apple butter at the church. There will be various yard sales throughout the community. I will be having a benefit yard sale for Boone, N.C. My former church, Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, is going there the first week of October. Please come out and help this worthy cause. So many people in Boone are still living in tents. It will soon be 13 months since the hurricane came through there.

The Vesuvius Community Center will have its annual Vesuvius Holiday Xpress from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 15. We will have vendors, crafters, food for the holidays. Also we will have a breakfast and lunch menu.

I thank the Lord for sending the much needed rain. I hope it continues this up coming week. I hope each of you have a blessed week.
