Alzheimer’s Walk Slated For Sept. 20

The Rockbridge community will come together at Maury River Middle School Sept. 20 for Walkin’ the Rockbridge Way, a local Alzheimer’s awareness walk supporting the fight against dementia.

Held in partnership with the Greater Augusta Walk to End Alzheimer’s, this event is more than a walk — it’s a celebration of community, compassion, and hope, said a spokeswoman. With nearly seven million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, and one in three seniors affected by dementia, the need for awareness, support, and research has never been greater.

“This walk is about showing up for our neighbors, our families, and our future,” said Tanya Carroll with the Mayflower on Main. “We walk to honor those we’ve lost, support those still fighting, and raise awareness for the journey ahead.”

The walk will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 20. Event highlights include local food and coffee vendors, children’s activities, a basket raffle with prizes to support the cause, and a themed spirit shirt to show solidarity in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Foundation through the Greater Augusta Walk.

No registration required. “Just show up, wear purple, and walk with us,” said Carroll.
