Glasgow Public Library will present “The Claudius Crozet Blue Ridge Tunnel: Its history and Preservation” on Monday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m.
Jerry West, Blue Ridge Tunnel Foundation president, will talk about the preservation of the historic structure and its current usage as a hiking/ biking trail.
The Blue Ridge Tunnel is located beneath Rockfish Gap in the Blue Ridge Mountains and was designed by engineer Claudius Crozet in the early 1850s. Upon its completion in 1858, the tunnel was the longest railroad tunnel in North America.
