New Views Theatre Plans Reading, Private Dinner

New Views Theatre is planning several events in October.

The new local theater company is preparing free staged readings of “Challenging Brown” on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. at the Lenfest Center.

The author of “Challenging Brown,” Cris Eli Blak, will be among those participating in a private fundraising dinner on Oct. 10 at Zunzan restaurant. He will be joined by successful New York City theater producer and director Gerald vanHeerden and Ted Swindley, the creator of “Always … Patsy Cline,” who founded Stages in Houston, which a few years ago moved to its new $34 million theater.

Area residents can get to meet with them at the threecourse dinner, for which there are only 18 seats.

Tickets for the private dinner and for the free readings of “Challenging Brown” are available at https://www. newviewstheatre.org/support.
