High Bridge

Esther Pennington, 291-2629

Several congregation members attended the Rev. Linda Trumbo’s installation service at First Presbyterian Church in Covington Sunday, Aug. 24, after the picnic at Cave Mountain Lake. Congratulations, Linda!

High Bridge will celebrate Rally Day on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. New teachers will be introduced and children may visit their Sunday school rooms. Regular Sunday school classes begin Sept. 14.

The Presbyterian Women’s third quarter mission is the Natural Bridge Elementary School clothes closet. Needed clothing includes underwear, shorts, pants (no jeans), and tennis shoes sizes 11 through 4. Items can be left with Betsy Shepard or dropped off in the narthex.

High Bridge will celebrate its 255th anniversary this fall on the weekend Sep. 27-28. Please join us for different celebration and history activities each day. That Saturday Tom Camden, retired from Washington and Lee University, will give a program at 2 p.m. on the history of High Bridge and the old community of Springfield. A tent will be set up outside with refreshments to follow. The following day, we will have regular worship with a catered lunch in the tent to follow.

The Natural Bridge Food Pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, and close at 11 a.m. We ask that our supporting churches and friends donate peanut butter.
