Rockbridge County High School was one of 66 high schools in Virginia to earn the “Stay in the Game” award last month, which recognized schools that did not have a player ejection during last school year’s fall, winter and spring sports seasons.
The Virginia High School League announced the award in a press release on July 23, and new RC athletic director Anthony Marasco spoke about it in a presentation during the RC School Board meeting on Tuesday of last week. On July 1, Marasco replaced Adam Haynes, who served as RC’s athletic director for the last four years before becoming PM’s new athletic director.
For the Stay in the Game Award, there is no limit on the number of schools that might be recognized in a given year. The selection process includes a self-assessment and peer review.
