Anna Nye, a rising junior midfielder for the Rockbridge County High School girls lacrosse team, competed for the All America Burn Division, comprised of players from the Class of 2027, in the last week of July at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md. There are 12 different teams from around the country, with 22 players on each team. Nye tried out for the team in March. These teams competed in five games over three days. Nye made the D.C./Virginia team, which finished 6-0 and was set to play Baltimore in the championship game on Monday, but they weren’t able to play due to the weather. Nye was selected to the all-tournament team and was named co-Most Valuable Player. During her sophomore season this spring, during which Nye named Region 4D player of the year and helped the Wildcats win their fifth consecutive Region 4D title before falling to Western Albemarle in the Class 4 state championship game, Nye scored 65 goals, dished out 49 assists and won 205 draw controls.
