Survey Part Of Strategic Plan Process
Lexington & Rockbridge Area Tourism has released a new online survey to gather community and visitor input to inform their new tourism strategic plan.
Local residents, business owners, and area stakeholders across Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County are invited to participate and share their perspectives. The survey is available online until Wednesday, Aug. 6, and can be completed with a computer, mobile phone or tablet.
It takes approximately 20 minutes for residents and business owners to complete. Visitors will be served a shorter version of the survey, requiring about 10–15 minutes for completion.
“Tourism has tremendous capacity to support our local economy and improve quality of life in the region,” Sheryl Wagner, executive director of Lexington & Rockbridge Tourism Development, said. “But, it is important that we understand what success looks like for our community. That will help us ensure our efforts and promotional strategies align accordingly.”
This survey is a part of a larger tourism strategic planning effort that is being led by Eddy Alexander, a marketing communications firm headquartered in Roanoke.
Tourism industry outreach has been taking place all summer long and the full planning process includes both primary and secondary research, visitor trend analysis, economic impact reviews, focus groups, interviews, and more. The final tourism strategic plan is expected to be released in late fall.
“This survey will help shape Lexington Rockbridge Area Tourism projects and priorities over the next 3-5 years, so the first-hand community and visitor feedback is very important. We hope everyone in the area takes a few minutes to be part of the process, and that everyone invites their friends and family members who may visit the region on occasion to participate as well,” Jennifer Eddy, president and chief strategist at Eddy Alexander said. “We have many partners helping us secure visitor participation, but we hope to collect meaningful input and representation from residents from all over the county as well. Community involvement is critically important and helps us ensuring the plan will have everyone pulling in the same direction.”
