May 28, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: The news from Washington gets worse every day. Trump must be trying to isolate us from our allies and push us into ignominy. Our finances keep going down, and the cost of consumer goods keeps going up. Trump has taken a good economy and pushed us to the brink of recession.
People who need government help are cast aside in favor of benefiting the rich who don’t need help. Meanwhile, Trump uses the presidency to rake in millions of dollars.
Where are the decent Republicans? Why don’t they put cowardice behind them and act for the good of our country? Why don’t they act as a check on this destructive and mean-spirited Trump? HARDIN MARION Rockbridge County
