May 29, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: We all owe a round of thanks to the Maury River Alliance, for their persistent engagement in collaboration with DEQ, the county and the Boy Scouts.
Let’s also pause to recognize three people with unique and invaluable roles in getting us to this point: Jay Gilliam, for his original and long-standing advocacy on the issue; Joan Joyce, for her passion in galvanizing this latest attempt; and the late, much-missed Sandra Stuart, for her grace and wisdom in steering it through the rapids.
