JIMMY CARICKHOFF
JIMMY CARICKHOFF
James Ross “Jimmy” Carickhoff passed away on Aug. 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 11, 1961, in Northern Virginia to Gilbert and Joan Carickhoff, Jimmy was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who never met a stranger.
A graduate of Rockbridge High School’s class of ’79, he spent much of his working career alongside his father in several family-run enterprises including T-N-T Truck + Van Accessories and G&J Detailing. For the last 18 years, however, Jimmy’s home was sunny Florida, where he lived near the beach and far from the Virginia winter.
Jimmy grew up in the church but found a new love for Christ when he attended a Christian “Woodstock” of sorts with his friend, Ken Tilton, and often shared God’s love in both scripture and in song.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents and leaves behind his loving daughter, Jennifer Carickhoff, and grandchildren, Alexis and Cameron. He is survived by his sisters Jody Poole and Emily Fielding, and brother Wayne Carickhoff along with several nieces and nephews.
In honor of Jimmy’s valiant fight with cancer, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society’s national home office in Atlanta, Ga.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at Emerge Ministries in Stuarts Draft.
