Jeffrey William Mason, 60, of Raphine, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, at his home.

Born July 19, 1966, he was a son of the late Otha William "Bill" Mason and Carrie Jane Clark Mason.

Jeff graduated from Rockbridge High School then continued his education, receiving his bachelor's in music education from BridgewaterCollege; he then received his master's in education from JamesMadison University. He loved music and teaching. He taught for several years at Rockbridge County and Buena Vista City schools and played with countless local bands and musicians over the years. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and special mother-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Stewart.

Surviving are his wife, Meg Stewart Mason; children, Heather E. Hawley (Hunter) of Nashville, Tenn., and William T. Mason (Bailey) of Stuarts Draft; siblings Martha J. Mason and Lester W. Mason; and grandchildren, Elizabeth S. Hawley and Stewart J. Hawley.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Fairfield Cemetery by the Rev. Tuck Bowerfind.  A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Grace Episcopal Church.
