Arlene Janet Link Hickman, 78, of Natural Bridge, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Sherman Hickman; parents, James Garwood and Margaret Broughman Link; brothers, and Howard “Buck” Link and Leonard “Wee” Link.

The light of her life was her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a natural caregiver all her life and enjoyed laughing, God’s creatures, especially birds and horses; her Friday lunch ladies (Sissy, Charlotte, and Katie “Sis”); and Sunday dinners.

Left to cherish Grammie’s memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and David Walker, Janet and Randall Floyd, and Teresa and Chris Joynes; beloved grandchildren, Daniel and Kristen, Taylor and Ashlee, Drew, Cari and Noah, Cloey, and Christian; precious great-grandchildren, Micah, Maycie, Bailey, Skylar, Oaklee, and Easton; six God-children; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home by Pastor Terry Bostic. Interment will follow in Glasgow Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home.
