Hubert Thomas “Tommy” Camden, age 77, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sept. 9, 2026, at his home in Dandridge, Tenn.

Born Nov. 29, 1948, in the county of Rockbridge to the late Hubert and Shirley Ferguson Camden, Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 26 years and caregiver, Deborah Sue Camden. 

Tommy was a member of Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church and a graduate of Parry McCluer High School. He enlisted in the United States Army when he was 19 years old. He served from 1968 to 1970. Stationed in Fort Dix, N.J., for basic training, he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry, 25th Division known as the “Golden Dragons,” He served a tour of duty in Vietnam, rising to the rank of sergeant. It was quite the experience he never forgot. He served his country proudly and with dignity.

Tommy was a member of the American Legion Floyd-Davison Post 126 and also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. 

He spent 42 years at Mohawk Industries where he retired as a lab supervisor. Tommy enjoyed fishing, playing poker with friends and telling a joke or two. He also enjoyed taking trips with long-time friends Tony and Gail Pitzenbarger.

Tommy is also survived by his daughters, Nikki Camden (Mike), Amy Hostetter (Marvin), Dawn Clark (Robbie) and April Higgins; grandchildren, Jonas Rush (Alissa), Lyric Rush, Justin Powell (Less), Logan Higgins (Wess), Lexy Clark (Jesse), Jordan Fitzgerald (Christian), Tate Higgins, Cameron Clark and Payton Higgins; great grandchildren, Sterling Rush, Chloe Lewis and Lilah Swartz; son-n-law, Donnie Higgins; numerous nieces, nephews; and his furry companion, Remi.   

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by Pastor Adam Williams. Burial will follow at Rockbridge MemorialGardens.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home. 

Contributions can be made to the American Legion Post 126 in Buena Vista.
