NANCY MAY

NANCY MAY

Nancy May passed away on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026.

She was born in St. Louis, Mo., to Phillip and Dorothy Degeare. She spent her childhood in Dupo, Ill., and graduated in 1961 from Dupo High School. She married Charles May in 1967.

As her husband was in the Air Force, she moved to Germany and quickly developed a love of travel, exploring much of Europe, and then later in life visiting many countries. Upon their return to the United States, they settled in Singers Glen, Va., before moving to their home in Raphine.

She was an active member of Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church in Steeles Tavern. She participated in the exercises classes there and eventually led the balance class. After her children were grown and moved away, she cared for more than 20 children in the community over the years.   She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader who always looked forward to her monthly book club sessions.  Additionally, she was a member and officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Red Hat Club.

Nancy is survived by her children Dennis (Terry) May and Timothy (Michaeline) May; grandchildren, Tamera, Andrew, Aidan, Victoria and Kira; and great-grandson, Liam.
