James Franklin Buchanan, 93, of Raphine, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026. 

Born June 30, 1933, in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Guy Homer Buchanan and Gertrude Lotts Buchanan.

Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired appliance repairman.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ila Marie Carter Buchanan, and a son, James Franklin Buchanan Jr.

Surviving are his children, Dana Weeks, Pam Runkle (Kenneth), and Michael Buchanan (Angie); six grandchildren, Adam Runkle (Faun), Jacob Runkle, Brandon Weeks (Tracy), Megan Manning (Chris), Regan Buchanan, and Devin Buchanan; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Buena Vista PentecostalHoliness Church by the Rev. Adam Williams. 

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
