Jermale Jerome Fitz was escorted into Heaven by his heavenly angels on July 29, 2026, at the PresbyterianHospital in Albuquerque, N.M.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1985, in Lexington at StonewallJackson Hospital.

Jermale was educated in the Rockbridge County school system, where he loved to play sports.

He served in the United States Army and loved his family.

Jermale had such a beautiful smile and joy that would make you rejoice along with him!

He was preceded in death by his loving mother Kellie E. Fitz, his maternal grandparents Franklin and Joan (Jo) Cabbell, his aunt, Jacqueline Fitz, and his beloved nephew Jayden Christian Fitz.

Leaving to cherish his loving memory is his beautiful daughter Kaylee Ann Fitz whom he loved with his whole heart. Kaylee was his ray of sunshine, that kept him going when his life got tough, and her mother Crystal Fitz Grant, former spouse, who loved Jermale unconditionally, both of Buena Vista; his father, Jerome Pennix, of Lynchburg; two brothers, Terell Fitz, Ryan Fitz and his fiancé Shauna Brinkley, all of Buena Vista.

And a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Brolling, Grose, and Lotts Funeral Home in Buena Vista.
