Born Aug. 10, 1950, he was a son of the late Clayton George Mullikin and Sarah AnnaBell Wood Mullikin.

Also preceding him in death was his brother, George Mullikin.

Alan retired from a military career in the United States Army Band, Pershing’s Own, where he was a herald trumpeter and trombonist. He served as a minister of music and worship leader for various churches in Virginia and Florida. He was a composer and author of many worship songs and several original musicals. Alan also delighted in writing inspirational short stories and novels framed in biblical and historical truths. He was a loving and faithful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Blake Mullikin; children, Trevor Mullikin (Lisa), and Aaron Mullikin (Lisa); grandchildren, Joshua Mullikin (Sophia), Kaitlyn Mullikin, and Ann Dylan Mullikin; sisters, Judi Clarke, and Brenda Criss (Jim); and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful Hospice staff.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Lexington Foursquare Gospel Church.
