RAYMOND JOHNSON

Raymond Kenneth Johnson, 81, of Salem died Thursday, July 23, 2026, at LewisGale Hospital. 

Born April 8, 1945, he was a son of William Herman Johnson and Mabel Sophie Falls Johnson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Plogger, Marie Wilhelm, Bob Johnson, Herman Johnson, Jackie Johnson and Pat Johnson.

Raymond owned and operated his own excavating business for over 60 years.  He enjoyed running heavy equipment and took a lot of pride in each and every job he did.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Jean Ford Johnson; children Susan Louise McDaniel and Kenneth Edward Johnson.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Oak Grove Cemetery by Pastor Matthew Musser.
