Travis Michael Roadcap, 34, of Raphine and formerly of Harrisonburg passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at his home.
Travis was born April 6, 1992, in Harrisonburg and was the son of Evelyn Derrow Waybright and Tommy Waybright Jr. and Michael Roadcap. He was a 2010 graduate of Harrisonburg High School where he excelled in football and baseball. He continued his education at Bridgewater College, playing football for the Eagles and graduating in 2014. After five years as an assistant baseball coach, he was named the head baseball coach for Rockbridge County High School in 2019 to the present. He taught health and physical education at Rockbridge as well as strength and conditioning and was a special teams coach for the football team prior to becoming the head baseball coach. Sports was his life and he was a dedicated coach and mentor to many players and students. He was a huge Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed vacationing at Nags Head.
In addition to his parents, Travis is survived by his beloved dog, “Chipper,” and his best friends, Kasey Potter and Shannon Wray; uncles, Roger Leake and wife, Karen, David Derrow and Ronnie Roadcap Jr. and wife, Kim; aunt, Sharon Caracofe; step-grandparents, Tommy Waybright Sr. and wife, Linda; step-aunt, Cindy McDaniel and husband, Melvin; step-uncles, Charlie Waybright and John Waybright and wife, Miranda; and numerous cousins.
Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carroll Derrow and Nancy Derrow; paternal grandparents, Ronnie Roadcap Sr., and Hannelore Roadcap; and maternal aunt, Bonnie Leake.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg by Pastor Eric Evje and high school friend Preston Grogg. Burial will follow at
