RICHARD REITER SR
Born May 4, 1946, in Rochester, N.Y., he was a son of the late Elmer Charles Reiter and Mary Fitzgerald Reiter.
He lived a life of service to his fellow man, committing himself to service honorably in the military during Vietnam as UDT21/Seal Team 2 member. Afterwards, he fought fires across Virginia. Whether training firemen or raising his children, he always gave everything he had, and then doubled down when others would give in. He was a co-founding member of Virginia Beach dive team and served 45-plus years in EMS and firefighting. A warrior, a father, a husband, he will be missed by his family.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Reiter; children, Pemma Reiter, Richard “Richie” Reiter, Christopher Reiter; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 23, at Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery by the Rev. Burr Datz. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.
