David Berry Mays Sr., 84, of Vesuvius died Sunday, July 19, 2026. 

Born Oct. 29, 1941, he was a son of Herbert Venable Mays and Ester Pultz Mays.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Franklin Mays and Jerry B. Mays; sisters Donna Reid and Kathy Mays; stepson Henry Hartless; and grandson Nathaniel David Mays.

David was a retired heavy equipment operator.

Surviving are his wife, Glenda Mays; children Rex A. Mays (Lisa), David B. Mays, Jr. (Laurie), , Shelia Owens; sisters, Lois Troxell, Pauline Nuckols, Judy Reid; grandchildren, Josh Mays, Alex Mays, Dustin Mays (Nell), Brandon Mays, Cheyenne Owens, Jeffrey Groah; great grandchildren, Xander Mays, Keenan Clark, Joanna Mays, Sawyer Sheets and Brentley Owens.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
