He was born Jan. 8, 1945, in Rockbridge County, a son of Woodrow Wilson Carter and Reva Lee Rhodes Carter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Wayne “Pee Wee” Carter.

Wilson graduated from Parry McCluer High School and served in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are his daughter, Kim Gormley; sisters, Shirley Humphrey and Susie Hawkes (Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
