In Loving Memory of Kristy Nicole Powell

Kristy Nicole Powell, 45, of Buena Vista passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026.

Born on Dec. 12, 1980, in Lexington, Kristy lived a life defined by kindness, compassion, and an unwavering love for others. She had a true passion for working with children and dedicated herself to making a difference in their lives. Kristy was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, always putting others before herself.

Kristy was loved by everyone she met. Her warm smile, generous heart and joyful spirit could light up any room. She had a special love for the fall season and the magic of Christmas, bringing happiness and excitement to those around her every year.

Above all, Kristy treasured her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Steven Powell; her mother, Sandra Campbell (Rodney); her daughter, Hannah Hartless (Dillan); and her two beloved grandchildren, Kasen Goff and Hartlen Goff, who were truly the light of her life and her entire world.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Wayne Hartless, and cherished grandmother, Martha Wilhelm.

Kristy’s love, generosity, and beautiful spirit have left an everlasting mark on the hearts of everyone who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and unconditional love.

In accordance with Kristy’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. Her family asks that she be remembered not only for the way she left this world, but for the extraordinary way she lived—with grace, generosity, and a heart full of love.
