Betty Jane Foster Goolsby
June 30, 1929 – June 18, 2026
Betty Jane Foster Goolsby, 12 days shy of her 97th birthday, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, June 18, 2026 at Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab Center, Buena Vista.
She was born in Buena Vista June 30, 1929, a daughter of Robert John Foster and Myrtle Katherine Stinnett Foster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (Bob) and Charles (Rink) Foster and sisters, Shirley Johnson and Carolyn Mottola.
Excluding a few years living in New Jersey and Mississippi, she was a lifetime resident of Buena Vista. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed her home, cooking for family, her flowers and spending time with family and friends. In the words of her late husband of 75 years, Warren Henry Goolsby Jr., she was as pure as the driven snow and tough as nails. She was a longtime member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Diane G. Burger of Buena Vista; sons, Warren H. Goolsby, III (Hinks) of Windsor, Calif., and R. Gregory Goolsby of McKinleyville, Calif.; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and innumerable friends.
Special thanks to the caregivers that enabled her to remain in her home over the last two years.
A memorial service will be held July 6 at 1 p.m. at the Buena Vista Baptist Church, 2174 Chestnut Ave. The family will receive friends prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Buena Vista Baptist Church or Shenandoah Valley Health & Rehab Center.
Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista.
