NANCY WILLIAMS

She was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Glasgow, a daughter of Phillip Anthony and Helen Anthony, and the granddaughter of the Rev. Moses Daniel Anthony, longtime pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Glenwood Williams Sr. and Marshall Stores; her sons Marshall Stores II, Phillip E. Williams, and Glenwood Williams Jr.; her brother Moses Anthony (Elsie); her sister Evelyn Turner (Lewis); her grandson Samonte’ Borden; her greatgrandchild Gabriel Williams; her nephew Timothy Turner; and her niece Carol Early.
Nancy was a lifelong and faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess, senior usher board secretary, and senior choir member. She was a recipient of the church’s Phoebe Award. She was also a former member of the Concerned Citizens of Glasgow, a former board member of Total Action Against Poverty, a past member of the NAACP and treasurer of the Eastern Star’s Ann Ellen Early Chapter 209 for more than 50 years. She retired from James Lees & Sons and later worked for the Bradford Antique Shop.
Surviving are her children, Gwendolyn Borden (Reginald) and Nathan Williams (Sharon); her niece-sister Verna Smith; her niece Donna Dunn (Kent); and her nephew Clifton Turner.
Also surviving are her grandchildren Marshall Stores III (Antoinette), Quenesha Williams, Nakia Williams, Nakesha Mayfield (John), Eboni R. Borden, Reneya Washington‑Williams (Danie), Rotoya Williams (Bruce), Issacglen Williams and Joel Williams; her great‑grandchildren Casey Stores, Jaylen Mayfield, Judah Mayfield, Harmony Mayfield, Mariah Mayfield, Gabriella Hampton, Caleb Hampton, London Hampton, Krystian Manago, Journey Manago, Elisha Williams Sykes, Tyler Brown, Malachi Williams, and Isaiah Williams; and her great-great-grandchild Avaya Sykes.
The viewing will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, with the funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Glasgow.
