BARBARAHUMPHREYS

Born Dec. 17, 1949, in Rockbridge County, Barbara was the daughter of the late Mildred Whitten McCormick and Robert Rayburn Ramsey.

She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert Lee and Ruth Ramsey, and by her sister, Brenda Joyce Ramsey.

Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose love for her family was her greatest joy, and even in difficult times, that love for them never wavered. She will be remembered for her caring heart, quiet strength, and the kindness she shared with those around her. A woman of Christian faith, Barbara found comfort and strength in her belief in the Lord. Her family finds peace in knowing she is now resting in God’s eternal care and reunited with loved ones who went before her.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher Seth Humphreys (Kristy) of Iron Gate, Ian Dane Humphreys (Samantha) of Quincy, Fla., and Garth William Humphreys (Misty) of Buena Vista. She is also survived by her beloved grandson, Marcus William Humphreys who brought her so much joy through the countless videos they shared together. Also left to cherish her memory are her brother, Phillip Wayne Ramsey (Ninita), her stepsister, Betty Harris, and her special friend, Joyce Simpson.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Montana Flint for the care and support she provided during the first weeks after Barbara returned home from the hospital. The family would also like to extend its deepest gratitude to Connections Plus Hospice, especially Marlene, Christine, Chrystal and Jordan, as well as Mary, Millie and Missy at ProCareers, for their compassion, kindness, and dedicated care during Barbara’s final days.

Barbara’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Butch Grow and Pastor Tommy Johnson officiating.
