Robert Lester “Buddy” Coleman Sr., 82, of Buena Vista, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Salem VA Medical Center. 

He was born March 30, 1944, in Buena Vista, to the late Early Rylan Coleman and Helen Elizabeth Davis Coleman.     

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Worley Henson; and sisters Mary Jane Mahood and Brenda Fitzgerald.

Buddy served in Vietnam with the 25th Infantry Division and was employed with Centel for many years.

Surviving is his wife, Barbra Lucille Coleman; children, Shellee Moore (Dale), Robert Lester Coleman II (DeIna), and Jason Coleman (Amy); stepson, Wayne Springer (Shauna); grandchildren, John Scott Moore, Maranda Moore, Grayson Russell Coleman (Emily), Olivia Dawn Coleman, Virginia Dreamer Coleman, Schuyler Coleman, Reagan Coleman; Shawn Benvengu, and Scott Springer (Brinley); great-grandchildren, Sadie, Scarlett and Silas; brother, David Coleman (Debbie); and many close and dear friends, too many to name.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Oronoco Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Arnold Bradley. Burial will follow at the Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oronoco Church of the Brethren or American Legion Post 126.
