IRVIN JOHNSON
IRVIN JOHNSON
Born Feb. 16, 1940, he was a son of John Melvin Johnson Sr. and Mildred Adele Phipps Johnson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers; his daughter Laurie Johnson; two stepchildren, Donita Fain and John Jones; and two grandsons, Aaron Johnson and Joshua Paul.
Irvin was a member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and a retired truck driver. After nearly two decades of driving road tractors for Ryder Pie, Irvin carried on through retirement driving for H.A. Siler Trucking, followed by years of mowing the property he lived on as well as neighboring properties on his John Deere riding mower. He never met a stranger, and loved to talk to everyone everywhere he went.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth K. Johnson; children, John Johnson, Dawn Carns and Chuckie; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Allen Jones and Eileen, Kevin Jones and Diane, Dawn Paul and Tim and Brenda Wines; 25 grandchildren, 41great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and his two spoiled cats.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 18, at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Buchanan by Pastor Lucy Hughes. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet/Roaring Run Cemetery.
