Lannie Mathew Staton, 93, of Buena Vista passed away Friday, April 24, 2026, at Shenandoah Valley Health & Rehab. 

Born March 12, 1933, in Amherst County, he was a son of Ottie Mathew Staton and Sally Hartless Staton .

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruby Ardell Martin Staton, and great-grandson, Finn Williams.

Surviving are his children, Ronnie Staton (Robin), Barbara Slagle (Ralph), Daniel Staton (Emilie) and David Staton (Karla); grandchildren Kim Thompson (Jason), DJ Staton, Nikki Williams (Russ), Cory Staton, Timothy Staton, Cameron Staton, Logan Staton and Ethan Staton; great-grandchildren Mathew Thompson, Gabrielle Thompson, Taylor Gearheart (Luke) and C.O. Staton; and special friend, Blair Knick. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by Pastor Butch Grow and the Rev. W. David Bane. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. 

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at the funeral home.
