CURTIS CLARK

CURTIS CLARK

Curtis Franklin Clark, 90, of Vesuvius died Thursday, April 16, 2026, at his home.

Born May 10, 1935, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of Andrew Lucian Clark and Gracie Mae Clark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Southers Clark, and siblings Hardy, Rose, Florence, Troy, Daisy and Betty Sue.

Curtis held a deep love for his birthplace along Irish Creek and the rich history rooted there. A proud steward of his family’s legacy, he enjoyed sharing stories of the Clark family, including memories of his father’s sawmill during difficult times. He loved the outdoors, working with his hands, and taking long Sunday drives. Known for his humor and warmth, Curtis never met a stranger and delighted in telling stories and jokes. He also had a fond appreciation for his Dodge vehicles and the many faithful dogs he loved over the years, most recently his companion, Blackie.

A man of faith, Curtis loved the Lord and lived his life with kindness and care for others.

Survivors include siblings Wallace Clark, Hazel Clark, Hilda McMillan, Martha Clark and Andy Clark.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Carolyn and Mike Hartless for their devoted care over the past four years. Their compassion and dignity in caring for Curtis, holding his hand until his final breath, will never be forgotten.

A graveside service was conducted April 20 at Irish Creek Cemetery by the Rev. David Bain.

Arrangements were by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
