Mayda Bartley Higgins, 73, of Glasgow died Monday, April 13, 2026, at CarilionRockbridge Hospital.

Born Aug. 18, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Russell Dean Bartley and Dora Sensabaugh Bartley.

Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Buelah Snider and Phyllis Keith.

Mayda enjoyed taking trips to Myrtle Beach, Nags Head, or any beach. In her younger years she loved riding her motorcycle with friends.  Later in life, she took great pride and pleasure in spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, Douglas Higgins (Blair), and Christie Higgins; grandson, Braxton Higgins; brother, Michael Bartley (Tabatha); companion, Ted Whiteside Jr.; special family friends, Tiffany Whiteside, Tara Whiteside, and Tabitha W. Bailey (Michael); numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Dorsey Hostetter officiating.  Burial will follow at Glasgow Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour before the service.
