Also preceding her in death was her brother, Larry Long; sister, Lottie Marshall Crawford; her beloved husband of 51 years, Duwayne “Wayne” Sloan; daughter, Sharon Lynn Sloan; and son, Kenneth “Kenny” Sloan.
Sheila was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and strength touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family and the care she gave so freely throughout her life.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her granddaughters, Shelly Sloan (Josh Dunaway) and Tiffany Sloan (Colton Dame); her grandson, Christopher Sloan and his wife, Ashley; her treasured great-grandchildren, Timber, Remington and Kynsleigh Sloan, Waylon Dunaway, and Dominick and Jalissa Moreno. She is also survived by Tracey Sloan, mother of her grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings, George (Robert) Long and Sylvia Helmick; her brotherin- law, Ralph Sloan (Agnes); her special friend, Julie Jennings (John); as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
In honor of Shelia’s wishes, as she had been patiently waiting to be reunited with her husband, Duwayne, a dual visitation was held Friday, April 10, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.
A memorial service to honor them both was held Saturday, April 11, at Rapps Mill Church with Pastor Jay Robinette.
