EDDIE CLAYTOR
He was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Claytor and Mary Kyle Wines Claytor.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Dennis and Ann Claytor, Curtis and Carolyn Claytor, and Jerry Claytor; sisters, Virginia and Dickie Wells and Helen and Author Cash; son, William “Billy” Conner; and great-granddaughter, Briley Ann.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Georgette Claytor; sisters, Sandra Emore (Johnny) and their children and grandchildren, Eleanor Snider (Jimmy) and their children and grandchildren. Eddie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
Fifty-four years ago, Eddie took on the biggest role a man could take. He became the father of four children. He provided for them and loved them unconditionally.
William “Billy” Conner (deceased) wife Bernadette, Amanda (Derrick) Smith and two great-grandchildren (Corbyn and Dilana), Linda Berkstresser (Ray and BooBoo), Mary Brooks and Michelle Lawton (Ben, Racheal, Charlie and Jiji), Thomas “Tony” Conner (Cathy), Sara and Jeff (Kylee); four greatgrandchildren (Icelynn, J.D., Liam, Laney).
Twenty-seven years ago, he took in one more daughter, Theresa Whitesell (Darrin), grandchildren Kiana and Sienna, and great-grandchildren Da’Kari and Jaeari; two sisters-in-law, Vera Claytor and family, Debra Cassinelli, two nieces, Crystal and Natasha; one nephew, Will; great-nieces and nephews Antony, Desteny, Caeden, Natalia, Lailah; and one great-niece Kaylani. Special friends Joe Straub and family, Darien Jules and Cookie, Peggy and Sam, Robert and Connie.
Eddie was a member of the Valley Cowboy Church and Glad Tidings Church in Glasgow. He was employed at Burlington Industries and the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office until he retired. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Glasgow Rescue Squad.
His passion was flying his motorized paraglider and spending time with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, with Pastor Roger Smith and Pastor Cliff Hall officiating.
