MINDY SKELTON
MINDY SKELTON
She was born in Tokyo, Japan, to John P. (U.S. Army, retired) and Wilma E. Matthews, and graduated from Lexington High School in 1965 and Roanoke College in 1971.
Mindy was a talented artist in small-scale media such as sculpted and sewn figurines, dollhouse miniatures, and fine beadwork and was in demand as a crafts teacher. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen until her death.
She was a writer as well, whose genre was technical manuals and articles aimed at home computer users during the 1980s boom. These works were written in a humorous style that was both unusual and well-received. Mindy helped co-found the Mid-Atlantic Regional Commodore Association in 1984.
Mindy is survived by her husband of 56 years, James A. “Andy” Skelton, a host of nieces and nephews, and friends who admired her talent, wit, and kindness.
If desired, contributions may be made in Melinda’s memory to the Nobody’s Cats Foundation (nobodyscats. org), 3909 Hartzdale Dr., Suite 905, Camp Hill, PA 17011. NG
