GENE WALKER

Hansford Eugene “Gene” Walker, 94, of Buena Vista passed away on March 5, 2026, at Alleghany Rehab Center with his son by his side. 

He was born on July 5, 1931, to William and Elsie Walker.

Gene was known for his love of hunting, watching sporting events, his church that he attended and going out with the group “The Brother and Four” for singings all over the nearby counties.  Gene also loved being with friends and family in the outdoors, especially in the mountains. Gene worked at Georgia Bonded Fibers in Buena Vista up until retirement, after which he worked for the National Forestry Service.       

Gene is survived by his son, Michael Jones and wife, Kelly Jones, and five grandchildren, Caleb Jones, Keylie Jones, Sawyer Jones, Sylvie Jones and Saydie Jones that he absolutely loved and adored.  Gene is also survived by a very special niece, Gwen Jamerson and her daughter, Melissa Wann, also two nephews, Danny Walker and daughter, Kristen Walker and Keith Walker, and sister-in-law, Pat Walker.  Gene also had a very dear friend and relative, Buddy Coleman.

Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Coleman Walker, father, William Walker, and also by his brothers, Gordon, Norris, and Bobby Walker.

Services will be private.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
