DENNIE AUSTIN

Dennie Franklin Austin (Snapper) of Natural Bridge Station passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday March 4, 2026.

He was the son of Earl and Katie Austin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Patricia G. Austin, and lifelong friend, David “Peewee” Powell.

Snapper was a lifetime member of the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department. He was retired from Loughhead Building Supply and the Natural Bridge State Park. He loved drag racing at the Natural Bridge Drag strip with his family and made many special friends that he considered family. He enjoyed being outdoors whether it was hunting or building things. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandpups, Ginger and McKenna.

Surviving is his children, Denise Gilliam (Edwin), Kim Cravello (Jack Dunlap), Robert Austin (Carla) and Faye Lunsford (Dale); grandchildren, Kirby Gilliam, Colton Painter, Sarah Austin and Natasha Lotts; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Maddie; sister-in-law, Katie Claytor (Brian); niece Kelly Wilson (Jonathan); and great-nephews Nate and Beau Wilson.

Per his request there will not be any services.
