CATHERINE STIMMELL-STINNETT

Catherine Sue Stimmel-Stinnett, 89, of Glasgow, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026. She was born on Dec. 14, 1936, and grew up in Cedar Bluff, Va. She was a beloved daughter of the late O.D. Altizer and Mae Lowe Altizer. She was also preceded in death by three of her sisters, Allie Gray Fletcher, Beulah Peterson and Carol Hasselbrack. Sue retired from Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Md., where she proudly served as the assistant director of hospital services. She valued the simple joys of life, including bird watching, nature walks, and spending time with loved ones. She will be remembered for her faith, steady strength, and kind heart. Sue is survived by her sweetheart of 51 years, Clyde Stinnett; sister, Glenna Little; son, Barry Stimmel Jr. (Teri); two grandchildren; and many other cherished family members and friends. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 6, at Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista by Pastor Luis Beltre. Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
