DAVID WHEELER

David “Red” Wheeler, 69, passed away on Feb. 22, 2026, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home after a long battle with dementia.

Born on Aug. 15, 1956, David was the son of the late Raymond Wheeler and Mary Wheeler. 

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Mike “Stevie” Wheeler and Robert Wheeler, and his beloved son, Dallas Joey Ramsey.

David retired from Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) in Buena Vista after many years of dedicated service. He was a hardworking man who believed in doing his job well and providing for his family.

He is survived by his brothers, Ray Wheeler (Kathleen) and Butch Wheeler (Michelle); his sister, Alanda Whitten (Ronnie); his niece, Melissa Tomlin (Steve); and his nephew, Jeffrey Whitten (Jessica). He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

David found joy in listening to music and took pride in keeping his car clean and shining. Though his journey with dementia was difficult, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace and reunited with those who have gone before him. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Heritage Hall in Lexington for their care and compassion during his illness.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 26, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., with the service beginning at 2 p.m. The service will be conducted by Dorsey Hosetter.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
