LYMAN RILEY

Lyman John Riley Jr., 81, of Buena Vista passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2026. 

He was born in Rochester, N.Y., on Jan. 29, 1944, to the late Lyman John Riley Sr. and Lorraine Warney Riley. 

Lyman was a U.S. Navy veteran of six years.  He was stationed in Norfolk on the USS Rockbridge Naval Ship.  He then worked faithfully at Reeves Brothers and Everbrite for over 50 years. Lyman was a member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad for many years.  He assisted in the startup program for the Junior Division of the Rescue Squad.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Linda Davis Riley; two sons, Jeffery John Riley of Atlanta, Ga., and Mark Edward Riley (Michelle); two grandchildren, Macey Riley Wallace (Zavery) and Maximus Riley, U.S. Navy, stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii on the USS Hawaii. Lyman is also survived by several special friends, Earl Guier, David Proctor, Braxton, Natalie and Addie Flint, Finn and Emmy Kartchner, and Bjorn Meador.

A family night to honor and celebrate Lyman’s life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home
