She was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Lexington, daughter of the late Raymond Austin Wade and Beulah Mae Sensabaugh Wade.

Mary attended Rockbridge County Schools through the 11th grade. She was a homemaker and a member of Grottoes Church of the Brethren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Ward West, and her second husband, Earl Jason Batten; her brothers, Ernest Wade and William Wade; and her two daughters, Linda Gay West and Norma Jean West.

Survivors include her four children, Kenneth West of Charlottesville, Michael West of Fishersville, Kim West and her spouse Dennis Magers of Greenville, and Wayne West of Fishersville; her two grandsons, William Curry IV of Churchville and Marshall Curry of Marietta, Ga.; her brother, Donald Wade and his wife Leona of Waynesboro; and her sister, Stella Wade Runkle and her husband, Donnie of Rockbridge Baths.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in her name to Grottoes Church of the Brethren, Grottoes, VA 24441.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro.
