PATRICIA SANDAGE
PATRICIA SANDAGE
Patricia Louise Sandage of Rockbridge County was freed from her mortal coil on Jan. 13, 2026, after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease, at the age of 73
Patricia Wilson was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1952 and spent her childhood in the Chicago area.
She met her future husband Greg Sandage at the age 15 and they were together ever since, living and attending college at Kent State in Ohio and marrying in 1971. They moved to southern Rockbridge County with two young children in 1979 and began building the house in which she gave birth to two more children and lived until her passing. In addition to the standard fare of a young mother and homemaker, she did an exceptional amount of handcraft for the family, making clothes and even shoes.
In 1985, she partnered with Greg to begin a jewelry business that continues today. For decades, she was the bookkeeper for Artists in Cahoots Gallery. In 1997 Patricia began extensive training in bodywork, eventually practicing from her office in Lexington up until her retirement in 2015.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Greg; her sons Joshua and Asa; daughters Rabia and Lila; grandson Holt and several sisters and brothers. She was supported in her life and dying by a loving family and community of dear friends.
A private family memorial is planned for the summer.
