THE REV. RUPERT STRAWBRIDGE
He was born Dec. 15, 1942, in Glasgow, a son of Sebastian and Margaret Strawbridge.
The Rev. Strawbridge served his country in the U.S. Air Force attaining the rank of E-5. He devoted his life to ministry as a pastor in the field by going to Jacmel, Haiti. He was a pastor to churches in Cairo, Ga., and Lexington. He served as an associate pastor for Christ Gospel Churches International until retirement. He was also a probation officer, a social worker, an adult service provider and a substitute teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Strawbridge, his children, Monique Dempsey, Rupert Strawbridge II and Janet Burton; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and siblings Joseph, Eric, Dennis, Clinton, Allen, Cassandra and Denise.
A family hour and viewing will be at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Lexington on Saturday, Jan. 17. The funeral will follow at 11.
