BETTY BRAFORD
BETTY BRAFORD
Betty Frances Gibson Braford, 86, of Natural Bridge Station, transitioned to her Heavenly home Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025.
Born Jan. 21, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Alexander Arthur Gibson and Flora Goff Gibson.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, Reeves Barger Braford; sister, Elizabeth Faber; brothers, Gilbert, Archie, Lloyd, Earl, James, Calvin and Junior Gibson; special friend Melvin Sampson; and fur baby, "Lady."
Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was known as "Granny B" to family and many friends. Betty worked in many capacities in her lifetime but was most proud of having worked in the cafeteria at the Natural Bridge Learning Center.
Cooking and baking was a true love for her, making some of the best sweets and sharing her recipes. She baked rolls for the annual ham and oyster supper at the Beth Horon United Methodist Church.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, laughing and making memories any time she could.
She loved gardening, raising her own garden and canning vegetables. She had a green thumb when it came to tending to her flowers, especially her African violets.
Betty is deeply loved and will be missed immensely.
Surviving are son David R. Braford (Teresa); grandchildren Joshua, Chelsey (Matt), Ryan; brother, Robert (Laurel); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at Glasgow Cemetery by Pastor Ray Newton.
The family would like to thank the 911 system, Rockbridge County Fire & Rescue, Botetourt Sheriff's Office, Rockbridge Community Hospital, Pastor Jason Kraiski and Harrison Funeral Home for the compassion and care shown for our loved one.
Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
